Fundraising concert featuring the best of singers musicians and dancers from Carna and Comhaltas

Tá ceolchoirm mhór á chur ar stáitse na Cultúrlainne ag Comhaltas ar 10 Deireadh Fómhair chun tacaíocht a thabhairt d’Ionad Cuimhneacháin na nImirceach i gCarna. Tá an Ghaeilge lárnach d’fhís agus gníomhaíocht an Chomhaltais mar ghluaiseacht agus tuiscint ag muintir an Chomhaltais ar thabhacht na Gaeltachta don chultúr Ghaelach. On Saturday 10th October Comhaltas will host a major fundraising concert at Cultúrlann na hÉireann to support the Emigrants Commemorative Centre Project in Carna. Seán Ó Sé is the Fear A’ Tí for this concert, featuring a line-up of top traditional artists. Amongst the performers from Carna are Josie Seáin Jeaic and Johnny Mháirtín Learaí, Róisín Nic Dhonnchadh, Máire Mhic Craith, Aisling Ní Cheannabháin and Johnny McDonagh, the concert also features Peadar Ó Riada and Seán Ó Sé, Clann Uí Raghallaigh, Bonn Óir Winner Oisín Morrison, Fionn Morrison agus Eibhlís Ní Shúilleabháin, Niamh O' Sullivan agus Cian Kearins, Séamus Mac Mathúna and representatives from An Chultúrlann based Pipers Club and a variety of All-Ireland Champion Musicians. The concert also features Macalla na hÉireann 2015, the 2015 Comhaltas Concert Tour and its CCÉ's 1916 Centenary Tribute.

The Emigrants Commemorative Centre, to be built on the footprint of the old Parish Hall in Carna village, will comprise a multitude of facilities. The committee are coupled with the Maine Heritage Centre in Portland in the State of Maine where many people from Carna spent their lives. The project has already consolidated links with the United States, including many people in high profile public life. The project has a multi-focused objective; to honour emigrants; link with the Diaspora; provide community facilities in Carna and provide a living picture of the history of a rural, Irish speaking West of Ireland community.
