Bríd Harper is an Irish traditional fiddle player from Castlefinn, Co.Donegal and now living near Dungannon, Co.Tyrone. Encouraged by music with her sisters in the Finn Valley area.

With music on both sides of the family she is carrying on the tradition of fiddle playing. Bríd has won a number of under-age All Ireland titles and other prestigious fiddle awards including Senior All-Ireland, Oireachtas na Gaeilge and Fiddler of Dooney.

Bríd, an MA graduate of the Irish World of Music and Dance at University of Limerick, has toured extensively and has performed with many great musicians including Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney, Donogh Hennessy, Danny O Mahony, Harry Bradley and of course, Arty McGlynn.

Arty McGlynn was born and raised in Omagh, Co.Tyrone. Arty was born into a family of musicians, with his mother playing the fiddle and his father on the accordion, and from a very young age Arty had been playing reels. As Arty got older, he moved away from tradition and found a love for Jazz music artists such as Wed Montgomery and from this he bought his very first guitar at the age of eleven years old. Only a short four years after, Arty played professionally.

Arty began touring the UK and the US in the late sixties, touring the roads with a multitude of different bands accentuated by the sound of the pedal steel guitar. Arty had long been dictated regarding his music, so Arty decided to take the reign and focused solely on the art of Traditional Irish music.

Arty released his first solo album named, “McGlynns Fancy” in 1979 which was the first recording of guitar in traditional means, which opened the door to global success. Arty played with household names such as Christy Moore, Paul Brady, Liam O’Flynn and bands Planxty, De Dannan and the Van Morrison band.

Arty released a critically acclaimed duet album with his wife Nollaig Casey named, “Lead the Knave” which in turn lead to a second album in 1995 the ever popular, “Causeway”.

McGlynn is the winner of a plethora of Irish music awards after winning the Belfast Telegraph Media and Arts Award as well as Excellence in Folk Music.

In recent times, Arty has moved on to producing music such as Four Men and a Dog’s album, “Barking Mad” , “The Rehersal” by Christy Hennessy and two of Frances Black’s albums, “Talk to me” and “The Sky Road”. Arty has also composed a number of TV documentaries with his wife and played music for the soundtracks of, “Moondance”, “Hear my Song” and more recently, “Waking Ned Devine”

Arty McGlynn has toured through Ireland with Uillean pipe player Liam O’Flynn after co-producing his album, “The Pipers Call”. Arty has also been working on the new Sean Keane and Charlie Landsborough album. It is safe to say Mr McGlynn has made a focused and excellent contribution to traditional Irish Music both in the past and for the foreseeable future.
